Colorful and delicate glass sculptures adorn the walls and shelves at the Tulsa Glassblowing School. A two-hour glass-blowing class offers an opportunity to create something unique and special. Or watch the creative process as the glassblowers work. Instructors teach how to use basic tools to create and kiln-fire simple forms, such as ornaments and paperweights. You will carry home your beautiful, created memento from your glassblowing session. Lunch on the river and later explore some famous glass-blowing artist creations like Dale Chihuly. Elder Care Announces Annual Fundraising Event On May 13, 2023, Elder Care will celebrate its 25th The Good, The Bad, & The BBQ  fundraiser to benefit programs and services at Elder Care. Location: Hughes Ranch, just minutes from downtown Bartlesville on Highway 123. The outdoor fundraiser will be held under a large party tent and includes a BBQ dinner, music and dancing, and live and silent auctions. A cash bar will be available. The live and silent auctions feature travel packages, unique jewelry pieces, private parties, tickets to sporting events, one-of-a-kind artwork, and many more items. Individual event tickets are $100 each or $1,000 for a reserved table of 8. Guests must pre-register by May 1, 2023. Jacob Guinan of the Alzheimer’s Association will present information to help individuals and families recognize symptoms at any age, especially at 55-65 years of age; and guide them toward proper resources. When someone under 65 is diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, the first reaction is often shock or denial. In this seminar, you’ll hear from those directly affected to learn how to plan and what you can do to ease the impact throughout the course of the disease. No cost to attend. The June 29 panel includes Dr. Sarah Land, founder of Central States Research in Tulsa.  Mr. John C. Holden, former Elder Care board member, practices elder law in Bartlesville. He counsels families on retaining assets and the cost of care for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia. Christina Bishop has been with Elder Care for 17 years with a behavioral science and psychology background and currently leads DayBreak Adult Day Health & Activity Center at Elder Care. Elder Care will host a book signing for local author Bob Fraser to promote his new book, Frankly Speaking, which focuses on  behind-the-scenes tales about legendary local oil icon Frank Phillips and historic Woolaroc.  In addition to the book signing, Fraser will entertain guests by recounting a few "tales" from his book and a few tales not mentioned in the book. Light refreshments will be served, including Frank Phillips' favorite summertime drink. Guests may purchase Fraser's book for $10, with a portion to be donated to Elder Care. Jamie Iwamoto ConocoPhillips General Manager Financial Services Bartlesville started his career with ConocoPhillips in 2005, working in the Canadian business unit.  He held various upstream and commercial finance positions in Canada before relocating to Houston to manage the company’s internal financial reporting team in 2014. In 2021, Iwamoto transferred to Midland, Texas as the Permian finance manager.  Before his role in Midland, Iwamoto spent time in the L48 business unit as the Gulf Coast finance manager and the L48 strategy and portfolio manager. Before relocating to Bartlesville, Iwamoto served as a board member for WaterBridge Resources. Iwamoto earned his Bachelor of Management in Finance from The University of Lethbridge in Canada (2005).  He is a Certified Management/Public Accountant.
